You have 5 computers with Internet access in your classroom. Your computers have Microsoft Office, Movie Maker, and Internet Explorer. You also have an LCD projector, screen, and digital camera (takes stills and a few seconds of video). You do not have a video camera, web cam, or printer. There is no computer lab in the school. All classrooms have the same equipment available.
Solutions:
The six group members will be put in pairs of two to represent the three experts: Meteorologists, Tornado Safety Engineers, and Tornado Historians. Using three of the five available computer, each team will research their specific expert.
These groups will create the pictures and images from the information found, create the Fujita Scale, and create and type an interview with a survivor of a tornado on the computers. There will also be two extra computers that can be used if a pair needs to complete two tasks at one time.
Once a member or the pair is done researching, he or she will move to typing their script that will be used in the video.
Since we have no video camera that records long amount of digital video, but we do have a digital camera that takes still shots, we will compose our video from a slide show out of several images, possibly using commentary over the images as well.
When presenting the final presentation to the class, students can also act out their script in person since there is no video camera to use.
